Nurse Practitioner-Hospice/Palliative Care

Job Summary
Manage clinical symptom management and lead end-of-life discussions with patients and families regarding goals of care and advance care planning. Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to adults with serious, chronic, or life-limiting illnesses within an academic inpatient setting. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and community hospice staff on an interdisciplinary model covering Neurology, Medical, Cardiac, and Surgical ICUs, Transplant, Oncology, and Advanced Heart Failure. Provide outpatient symptom management support at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Full-time daytime shift with no call or weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Current/Eligible (ACNP)/(FNP) Certification
- Arizona License
- Current CPR and BLS
- Current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substances
- Detail-oriented
- Good communicator
- Dedicated to providing excellent care in challenging situations
- Passionate about this type of specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses requiring end-of-life care
- Ability to engage in serious and end-of-life discussions with patients and their families
- Ability to provide consultations regarding goals of care and advance care planning
- Ready to thrive in an academic environment
- Full Time employment
- M-F schedule
- Daytime Shift (7-5)
- No Call
- No Weekends
Desired Qualifications
- ACHPN certification (expected to obtain within 2 years of joining the team)
- Experience in Palliative care

- Experience in Geriatrics
