Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients with acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. Administer medications, respond to medical emergencies, and provide first aid while ensuring timely transport to healthcare facilities. Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention within a controlled correctional environment. Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and coordinate services for the diverse population at the Clark County Detention Center. Adhere to security protocols and work closely with correctional officers to ensure patient safety.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in NV
- Current DEA registration
- An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods
- Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
