Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner – full-time role in ambulatory Physician Services, shift 2PM to 12AM; provides lifecycle care across prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations, emphasizing wellness, illness prevention, and management of acute minor and stable chronic illnesses. Responsibilities include health maintenance exams with patient education for all ages, prenatal care coordination with physicians, treatment initiation for acute/stable conditions per protocol, chart/documentation management, participation in performance improvement projects, and ongoing professional education to maintain licensure. Requires Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science, or Medical Science; current RN license; PA-C certification; BLS certification; valid driver’s license and insurance; and 2–4 years of relevant experience. Performs other related duties as assigned, in an on-site ambulatory clinic setting.
Required Qualifications
- Requires a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), Health Science (MHS), or Medical Science (MM Sc).
- Requires two to four years of work-related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Requires and maintains current state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Requires and maintains current state certification as a Physician Assistant –Certified (PA-C).
- Maintains a current certification in Basic Life Support (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)
- Requires and maintains a current valid driver’s license and proof of minimum automobile insurance.
- Provides direct patient clinical care in an ambulatory setting.
- Performs health maintenance exams with appropriate patient education for all age groups, including well child exams, adolescent exams and sports physicals, and adult physicals including pap and pelvic exam.
- Performs pregnancy confirmation and introduces pregnant patients into the prenatal program at the clinic. Provides prenatal care in coordination with physicians.
- Examines patients with specific acute complaints or stable chronic illnesses, initiates treatment for identified conditions according to written protocol, and works closely with clinic physicians in referring patients with significant abnormal findings.
- Provides appropriate level of clinical and educational services as needed, that is age and condition appropriate.
- Participates in performance improvement (PI) projects.
- Provides assistance to physicians on epidemiological issues pertinent to the medical office.
- Maintains chart documentation, tracking and reporting systems as indicated for continuity of care.
- Follows all Physician Services and CRHS policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and JCAHO requirements.
