Job Summary
Manage critically ill complex patients in an intensive care and stepdown setting by performing physical exams, collecting data, and conducting approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Order and interpret laboratory studies, consults, and diagnostic tests while formulating and implementing treatment plans for acute illness management in collaboration with supervising physicians. Perform procedures such as obtaining specimens, inserting central access, managing emergency airways, and performing lumbar punctures or suturing. Directly prescribe interventions and medications, update patient charts, and counsel patients and families regarding preventive care and treatment use. Respond to emergency codes and participate in in-service education programs. Work alongside trainees as part of the ICU Team.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing (MSN)
- 5 years clinical nursing experience
- 2 years minimum Critical Care Nurse Practitioner experience
- 2 years minimum ICU/critical care nursing experience
- Must be able to intubate patients (or willing to perform this function once trained)
- Must be willing to manage critical situations and codes
- Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
- Nurse Practitioner - NP (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
- Nurse Practitioner Furnisher (CA DCA)
- Current license to furnish medications in the State of California
- DEA Certificate
- NP Board Certified
- Possession of National Board Certification in Nurse Practitioner area of specialty accredited by Accreditation Board of Specialty Nursing (ABSNC) or National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
- Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)
