Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Critical Care providing expert, patient-centered care to critically ill adult patients. Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary critical care team, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and performing invasive procedures in accordance with established protocols. Participates in assessment and management of new admissions to the critical care unit, and provides education, consultation, and patient advocacy to ensure optimal outcomes. Three 12-hour shifts per week. License requirements include IL APRN or PA credentials, plus DEA and IL state prescribing authority; ACNP certification; 2+ years of critical care experience; BLS and ACLS. Required Qualifications
- Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987
- Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
- 2+ years of critical care patient management experience
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus.
