Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit and develop, implement, and manage treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. Perform histories, physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging, and manage ventilator-dependent patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring. Execute critical care procedures including arterial lines and central venous access, respond to medical emergencies and code situations, and participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds. Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and prognosis while maintaining accurate documentation within the electronic health record.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification (ACNP, AGACNP, FNP, or equivalent as applicable)
  • Eligible for or holding an active Alabama Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
  • Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain
  • Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills required

Desired Qualifications

  • Critical Care, ICU, Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Acute Care experience preferred
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification strongly preferred
  • New graduates with significant ICU nursing experience may be considered
