Job Summary
Provide diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up under physician direction while performing age and specialty appropriate physical examinations and preventive health measures. Order, interpret, and evaluate lab and diagnostic tests to assess clinical problems, then arrange appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on assessment findings. Maintain an interdisciplinary approach by communicating patient data with physicians and other health care professionals, while supervising clinical practice, research involvement, and consultative services across the health care continuum from preventative through discharge. Assist in the development and implementation of nurse practitioner guidelines, policies, and protocols, and participate in quality assessment and improvement programs to enhance patient care.
Required Qualifications
- NP-focused Master's of Nursing Program
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in an expanded role
- Active Massachusetts license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
- Registered with the specialty or other accrediting organization for Nurse Practitioners
- Registered with the State of Massachusetts and DEA for prescription writing privileges
- Current BLS Certification
- National NP Board certification
- ACLS Certification
- Expert clinical judgment and ability to be self-directive and demonstrate initiative in an expanded role
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language
- Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning to provide effective patient and/or family education
- Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work
- Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with the various members of the health care team, patients and families
- Computer proficiency inclusive of the ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information required
- Must complete a background check before beginning their employment at the hospital
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu, as well as receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in similar clinical setting/specialty preferred
- Certifications may be specific to the position's specialty
