Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive medical and behavioral health evaluations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients in an inpatient substance use disorder setting. Prescribe and manage medications including medication-assisted treatment, oversee detoxification protocols, and assess co-occurring psychiatric symptoms while responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies. Order and interpret diagnostic studies, complete admission and discharge documentation, and provide clinical guidance to nursing staff. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers in interdisciplinary meetings and quality-improvement initiatives while maintaining accurate electronic health records. Participate in a shared on-call rotation and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program
- Doctor of Nursing Practice
- Current, unrestricted Indiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licensure
- Current national board certification applicable to the provider's area of practice
- Prescriptive authority in Indiana
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DEA registration
- Ability to prescribe controlled substances within the provider's legal scope of practice and organizational privileges
- Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification
- Ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, exclusion screenings, health screenings, and credentialing requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Certification as other appropriately qualified advanced practice provider
- At least two years of experience in addiction medicine
- At least two years of experience in behavioral health
- At least two years of experience in psychiatric care
- At least two years of experience in withdrawal management
- At least two years of experience in emergency medicine
- At least two years of experience in primary care
- Experience working in an inpatient setting
- Experience working in a residential setting
- Experience working in a detoxification setting
- Experience working in a substance use disorder treatment setting
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications
- Knowledge of withdrawal-management protocols
- Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders
- Experience using electronic health record systems
- Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team
- Buprenorphine prescribing experience
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders
