Job Summary
Provide medical care to incarcerated patients, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds under the supervision of the Site Medical Director. Maintain accurate SOAP format progress notes, adhere to formulary guidelines, and respond to emergencies by making logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Support admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referral policies while ensuring necessary documentation is provided to monitor clinical services. Maintain confidentiality and provide input into facility committees as requested. Rotate hours and shifts as needed, including coverage during emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred
- Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment
- Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage
- Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment
- Must have and maintain current CPR certification
