Job Summary
Conduct medical care for incarcerated patients, including exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds under Site Medical Director supervision. Maintain accurate SOAP format progress notes, respond to emergencies, and make decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Support admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referral policies while ensuring necessary documentation is provided to the Medical Director. Provide input into facility committees as requested and maintain confidentiality. Requires current Nurse Practitioner licensure, CPR certification, and flexibility to rotate shifts or provide emergency coverage.
Required Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience
- Prior corrections experience
- Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population
- Ability to work effectively in the corrections environment
- Scheduling flexibility to rotate hours and shifts
- Ability to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment
- Current CPR certification

- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred
