Job Summary
The Nurse provides all nursing services for patients in a chemical-dependency/psychiatric treatment setting under supervision, participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, links patients to physicians and external resources, and supports detoxification and medical management of patients. Responsibilities include completing admission documentation and nursing assessments within 24 hours of admission, transcribing orders, administering medications, monitoring detox processes, coordinating with Medical Director and Psychiatrist, facilitating referrals, educating patients about health problems, and contributing to treatment planning and performance improvement. Requires an Associate-level Practical Nurse degree, 1 year of relevant experience, current CPR, and state licensure; strong knowledge of addictions, mental health, confidentiality, and emergency procedures is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a Community College with Practical Nurse Degree
- 1 year experience in chemical dependency/psychiatric setting (inpatient/outpatient/partial hospitalization)
- Current CPR
- Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state
- Maintains current licensure per state requirements
- Knowledge of addictions and mental health, confidentiality, patient rights, ethics
- Ability to administer medications and manage detoxification protocols
- Experience with documentation within 24 hours of patient admission
- Ability to communicate with Medical Director/Clinical Director and other team members
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and participate in team meetings
