Job Summary
Nurse (LPN) part-time evening shift responsible for nursing services for patients, including medical history screens, routine nursing care, medication administration, detoxification management, and coordination with physicians and treatment team. Requires licensure, CPR, at least 1 year in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, sobriety prerequisites, and familiarity with detox protocols, patient privacy, and clinical documentation. Works under supervision of the Director of Nursing within an addiction treatment program, participating in interdisciplinary team discussions and ensuring adherence to licensure standards and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a Community College with Practical Nurse Degree
- 1-year experience in chemical dependency/psychiatric setting (detox/inpatient/partial hospitalization/outpatient)
- Must have two years sobriety prior to hire if recovering from substance use disorder
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the appropriate state
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications
- Ability to determine medical emergencies and appropriate actions
- Knowledge of detoxification protocols and withdrawal stages
- Knowledge of laws/regulations governing treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction (confidentiality, patient rights, ethics)
- Knowledge of infectious disease precautions (TB, HIV, HB) and standard precautions
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and duties as part of treatment team
- Understanding of patient privacy policies (PHI)
- Experience with documentation such as admission notes, nursing assessments, medication administration
- Ability to educate patients about health problems and medications
- Ability to collaborate with Medical Director, Psychiatrist, and Medical Team
- Experience with CPR/First Aid/Infection Control training and fire safety
