Job Summary
Nurse (Part-Time Day RN) responsible for nursing services for patients in an addiction treatment setting; conducts medical history screens, routine nursing care, and coordinates with physicians and outside resources. Will document Admission Note, Nursing Assessments, and Medication administration; participate in Master Treatment Plan development, Emergency procedures, and treatment team activities; maintain CPR/First Aid and infection control standards; support detoxification protocols and patient monitoring; collaborate with Medical Director and Clinical Director, and educate patients on health problems and medications. Portland, ME-based position with in-person, day shift responsibilities, requiring LPN/LPN-equivalent licensure, 1 year of psychiatric/chemical dependency experience, and current state licensure with CPR.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a Community College with Practical Nurse Degree
- 1 year experience in chemical dependency/psychiatric setting (detox unit and/or inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient)
- Current CPR
- Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state with current licensure
- Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications
- Ability to determine medical emergencies and take appropriate action
- Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal regulations related to treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction including confidentiality, patient rights, ethics, and discrimination
- Knowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens and universal precautions
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assume responsibilities related to work as an addiction treatment team
- Ability to document nursing care and participate in treatments and coordination with physicians
- Experience with detoxification protocols and monitoring for withdrawal
- Understanding of treatment planning integration of medical issues
