Job Summary
Conduct patient care for neurology and pulmonary stroke unit patients, including those with COPD, respiratory failure, asthma, pneumonia, or requiring high-flow oxygen and tracheostomies. Perform frequent assessments to detect subtle condition changes in acute stroke and TIA patients while coordinating care with the Stroke Coordinator and tele-neuro services. Provide stroke education and maintain professional accountability for care effectiveness and patient confidentiality. Work 36 hours per week on night shifts at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO, with a sign-on bonus of $10,000 for graduates or $13,000 for experienced nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
