Job Summary
Assesses, plans, coordinates, and evaluates clinical and operational functions of a nursing unit ensuring quality and cost-effective health care. Ensures compliance with Nursing Practice Act and regulatory standards, recruits and retains qualified staff, provides and assesses patient education, and participates in performance improvement activities. Responsible for budgetary oversight and maintaining a cost-effective unit. Requires strong communication, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required
- Current RN licensure in appropriate state
- Must have or complete MSN if undergraduate degree is not BSN
- Enrollment in MSN program within 1 year of hire/transfer date and graduation of MSN program required within 5 years of hire
- If undergraduate degree is BSN, a Master's Degree from a health-related program or MBA is acceptable
- BLS required per policy guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Previous management experience preferred
- Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam
