Job Summary
Manage and supervise nursing departments for Pediatrics and Pediatric ICU, ensuring excellent patient care, achieving financial objectives, and fostering leadership development. Develop departmental structure, processes, and outcome standards while balancing tactical staffing, operational budget management, and strategic goal alignment. Oversee clinical environments, facilitate collaborative problem-solving, and advocate for resources to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care. Ensure competent staffing through hiring, orientation, and retention; evaluate staff performance via reviews and peer assessments. Coordinate compliance with federal, state, and regulatory bodies including Joint Commission and CMS. Partner with physicians to achieve clinical goals and support student nurse activities. Monitor patient satisfaction metrics to implement action plans for desired outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Current Nursing License to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
- Leadership/supervisory experience
- Must complete Intermountain Health's required leadership training and development courses within one year of accepting this leadership position
- 2 years clinical experience
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
