Job Summary
Manage nursing departments and supervise staff to ensure excellent patient care, achieve financial objectives, and foster leadership development. Develop departmental structure, processes, and outcome standards while overseeing clinical environments, strategic planning, and standards of care. Handle day-to-day activities including staffing, equipment availability, budget management, supply acquisition, and employee performance evaluations. Ensure competent staff levels through hiring, orientation, retention, and competency verification, while coordinating with physicians and supporting student nurses. Champion resource utilization for efficient, safe, and compassionate care aligned with current practice standards and regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Current Nursing License to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
- Leadership/supervisory experience
- Must complete Intermountain Health's required leadership training and development courses within one year of accepting this leadership position
- 2 years clinical experience
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
