Job Summary
Nurse Manager oversees neonatal patient care in the nursery, plans and supervises nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, and Patient Care Techs), coordinates staffing and education, supports quality improvement and regulatory compliance, and provides parent/guardian education and family-centered care for newborns including those needing specialized attention. Core duties include clinical leadership, staff recruitment/onboarding, attendance at staff development and training, ensuring accurate records and documentation, assisting with admissions/discharge planning, and serving as a resource for nursing practice, medication administration, and neonatal procedures (e.g., phototherapy, newborn screenings). The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with physicians, and maintaining high standards of patient care in a hospital neonatal unit.
Required Qualifications
- RN – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
- Licensed in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing
- BCLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
- ACLS, PALS may be required
- 1 - 2 years clinical experience
- 1 year Charge Nurse experience
- Strong knowledge of neonatal care practices and healthcare regulations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to manage staff, supervision, and leadership in a neonatal unit
- Experience with electronic medical records and documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to OSHA guidelines
- Ability to perform essential nursing duties including medication administration, IV therapy, and patient assessment
