Nurse Manager- Medical/Surgical Unit

Job Summary
Build reliable staffing models and own the unit's staffing plan to reduce reliance on premium labor. Develop onboarding and retention strategies while coaching three Assistant Nurse Managers into confident leaders. Implement patient experience practices like bedside shift reports and service recovery, and own infection prevention performance metrics. Manage the unit's operating budget and staffing spend with clear visibility into variance drivers. Partner with the CNO on capacity planning and service enhancements aligned with hospital growth. Spend at least 50% of time on the unit providing mentoring, teaching, and support to staff.
Required Qualifications
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Current RN licensure in appropriate state
- NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units
- Understands and applies: current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility
- Understands and applies: regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures
- Understands and applies: information systems and software used in area of responsibility
- Understands and applies: equipment used in performing assigned duties
- Understands and applies: application of safety and infection control policies and procedures
- Understands and applies: skills in interviewing and selection process
- Understands and applies: understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes
- Understands and applies: implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes
- Understands and applies: teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills
- Understands and applies: principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models
- Understands and applies: decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills
- Understands and applies: customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations
- Understands and applies: principles of change management
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- Two years demonstrated leadership experience
- Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting
- Board certification in area of practice
