Nurse Manager - Med/Surg - 5th, 6th and 7th floor

Lead day-to-day operations for the Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Forensics units on a 24-hour basis, providing direct oversight of charge nurses and facilitating patient care coordination for procedures and blood transfusions. Monitor patient flow, acuity, and unit throughput while managing staffing variables, including break relief coverage, overtime, and low-census scenarios to meet census requirements. Provide break relief coverage for nursing staff and participate in a rotating/shared weekend on-call schedule as the responsible leader for operational and clinical issues during assigned coverage. Ensure Forensics unit care aligns with security, custody, and safety protocols while maintaining Telemetry and Medical-Surgical care standards. Lead staff development, performance evaluations, and coaching; manage counseling and disciplinary processes in accordance with hospital policy. Support frontline quality improvement initiatives, maintain survey readiness for Tennessee state and Joint Commission standards, and enforce hospital policies to hold staff accountable.
