Job Summary
Manage 24-hour departments across multiple locations, ensuring staff provide high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care while complying with local, state, and federal requirements. Establish and maintain clinical standards of care, design processes to improve patient outcomes, and monitor budgets for human and material resources. Determine appropriate staff mix, oversee hiring, training, and competency development, and resolve human resource, safety, and risk management issues. Develop and monitor departmental policies supporting organizational goals. Includes on-call time on weekends if necessary. This role supports Kaiser Permanente's continuum of care through fiscal management and quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to clinical area of specialization as required by department
- four (4) years of management, supervisory or leadership* experience
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing, or Masters Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, federal regulations
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
- ACLS or PALS certification
- National Certification within 1 year of hire
- Leadership Experience (for Kaiser Permanente internal applicants only: demonstrated clinical nursing leadership as a Charge/Senior RN, participation on professional committees inclusive of UBTs, National Certification in Specialty, demonstrated completion of RN Leadership Development Program and/or demonstrated experiential exposure to Nursing Leadership)
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of management experience
- One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience
- One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment
- Masters degree
