Job Summary
Provide clinical leadership and manage patient care units, ensuring appropriate staffing, skill mix, and fiscal responsibility while coordinating care delivery based on clinical competency. Evaluate staff performance, support onboarding and orientation, and mentor employees through coaching and progressive discipline. Collaborate with interprofessional teams to drive quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and accreditation standards. Communicate critical patient safety issues to leadership and participate in drafting organizational policies. Support direct patient care as needed and assist with scheduling and payroll integration.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Certification in nursing leadership
- Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators
- Evidence of excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Physical stamina, manual, dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
- Ability to handle and move reasonably heavy weight
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing or health-related area
- Two or more years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served
