Job Summary
Manage clinical and environmental operations of the hematology/oncology unit by developing systems for safe patient care, creating staff schedules and peak census plans, and making shift-by-shift staffing adjustments. Lead human, material, and fiscal resources through annual budget planning, payroll oversight, and the hiring, supervising, and performance evaluation of nursing staff. Coordinate orientation for new hires, facilitate monthly staff meetings, and drive performance improvement initiatives using NDNQI and Press Ganey data to address quality gaps and patient satisfaction issues. Develop and evaluate policies, protocols, and standards of care while serving as a clinical resource and mentor to the team.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing program
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- 3 years relevant clinical experience
- Current Registered Nursing license in the state of New York
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certifications if required for service
- High emotional intelligence
- Basic understanding of principles of performance improvement and use of data to improve outcomes
- Working knowledge of regulatory and DNV requirements
- Ability to provide feedback and have crucial conversations
- Ability to organize work, delegate effectively, and to assign, direct and evaluate the work of other employees
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, E-mail, unit/service line/department specific applications)
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing or related field
- 5 Years relevant clinical experience
- Previous nursing management experience
- Certification in relevant clinical area
- Certification in nursing leadership
- Membership with professional and/or specialty organizations
