Job Summary
Provide clinical leadership and manage a designated care area on a twenty-four-hour basis, assuming full accountability for nursing practice, performance, and organizational goals. Foster a culture of excellence in patient service, staff growth, and engagement while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and shared strategic goals. Conduct interviews, hire, develop, and evaluate departmental leadership; evaluate personnel performance fairly and transparently. Establish operational and capital budgets, monitor expenses against patient volume, and utilize labor productivity data to plan staffing patterns and discharge targets. Design programs ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and collect data to drive practice changes integrating quality, safety, and productivity metrics. Participate in nursing research and evidence-based practice efforts, ensuring staff maintain licenses and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Master's degree in nursing
- At least three years of pertinent clinical practice
- Certification in nursing leadership
- Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators
- Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills
