Job Summary
Nurse Intern (Med Surg) supported by RN supervision, provides basic patient care and participates in hands-on learning on the Medical Surgical Unit (6th North). Responsibilities include vital signs monitoring, hygiene assistance, patient comfort, accurate documentation, effective communication with the care team, and participation in bedside shift reports. Role emphasizes developing clinical skills, seeking feedback, applying evidence-based practices, maintaining safety/compliance, and collaborating with the healthcare team to enhance patient experience. Requires active enrollment in an accredited nursing program, completion of fundamentals of clinicals, and 0-1 years healthcare experience. Licenses/certifications include CPR and Fingerprint Clearance Card. Per diem/prn shifts with variable schedule; unit is 33 beds with a focus on diverse patient diagnoses and growth in nursing skills.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing program required
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program required
- 0-1 years of experience in a healthcare setting required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation issued by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required
- Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by State Department of Public Safety required
