Job Summary
Provide routine treatments and interventions consistent with demonstrated competency, performing advanced skills such as nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, wound irrigation, and complex dressing changes after achieving required competencies. Conduct continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients, utilizing the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist during handoffs. Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs while maintaining safety and security for patients, families, and the healthcare team. Document information according to Orlando Health policies, participate in hourly rounding, and transport patients to diagnostic testing or procedures. Deliver items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility and manage incoming patient and guest requests. Maintain a safe environment and adhere to all Orlando Health policies, BLS/HealthCare certification, and standard precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Nursing student currently enrolled in a registered nursing (RN) program at a college or university
- Successful completion of fundamentals nursing course
- Proof of continued enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year
- Maintains current BLS/HealthCare certification
