Job Summary
Provide safe, high-quality patient care under direct Registered Nurse supervision while supporting clinical operations and applying nursing program knowledge. Deliver extended clinical experience to develop confidence in decision-making, delegation, prioritization, communication, and the patient experience. Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed on medical-surgical units with patients 18 years and older. Maintain ability to stand up to twelve hours daily and lift up to 250 lbs with assistance. Complete Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire and demonstrate proficiency with equipment including bed scales, gait belts, and telemetry systems.
Required Qualifications
- Ongoing enrollment in an accredited nursing program located within middle Tennessee (ADN or BSN)
- Successful completion of a basic nursing skills course within the accredited nursing program
- Enrolled in the final two semesters of the accredited nursing program (Nurse Extern II only)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
- Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly
- Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day
- Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Prior patient care delivery in an acute care setting
