Job Summary
Nurse Extern in General Surgery at Mission Hospital—gain hands-on experience as part of the nursing team while exploring full RN responsibilities. You’ll help with ADLs, check vital signs, support mobility and comfort, perform basic nursing tasks (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection), document care and communicate updates to the nursing team, educate patients and families about care plans, maintain a clean and safe environment with infection prevention practices, and collaborate with your supervisor/preceptor on a personal career development plan to grow in the program.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in a nursing program where the controlling institution of the nursing program is accredited under 21 NCAC 36.0302(b)(1)
- NC (CNA) Certified Nursing Assistant
