Job Summary
Nurse Extern Cardiology Stepdown PRN responsible for supporting basic patient care and telemetry monitoring on a cardiology stepdown unit under supervision, including vital sign collection, I&O monitoring, positioning, hygiene, and comfort measures; assist with pre/post-procedure activities, assist with ECG lead placement and telemetry checks, document care in the electronic medical record, and coordinate care with RNs, physicians, and the care team. Opportunities to learn advanced cardiology care, gain exposure to telemetry, and explore pathways to RN roles; flexible PRN scheduling to accommodate nursing school commitments; ideal for current nursing students interested in cardiac care and patient-centered service.
Required Qualifications
- current nursing students
- able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment
- cardiology knowledge or interest
- willingness to learn telemetry and step-down unit workflows
- ability to collaborate with RNs, physicians, and allied health professionals
- competent in basic patient care activities such as vital signs, intake and output monitoring, safe positioning and mobility, hygiene, comfort measures
- documentation in electronic medical record
- infection prevention and fall-reduction practices
- flexible scheduling to accommodate nursing school commitments
- clear communication and teamwork
