Job Summary
Conduct educational needs assessments and design orientation, in-service, and continuing education programs for nursing staff. Develop curricula, instructional materials, and evaluation tools while maintaining current educational supplies and equipment. Serve as a role model and resource for less experienced educators, overseeing charge nurse orientations and precepting staff nurses. Coordinate student clinical experiences with faculty and participate in educational strategic planning for the Department of Nursing. Present papers, posters, or workshops at scholarly meetings and consult with nursing governance councils on learning activities. Promote evidence-based methods, ensure staff meets required competencies, and assist with process improvement and quality management projects. Maintain data records for program evaluation and stay current on best practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to adhere to regulatory and safety standards
- Knowledge of current nursing and specialty regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of adult learning tools, theory and development
- Ability to facilitate work groups
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development and delivery
- Demonstrated experience in quality management principles
- Effective group process and team building skills
- Demonstrated skills in didactic presentations, clinical skills assessment methodology and project management
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability in conflict resolution
- Working knowledge of computer software programs, desktop publishing and audio-visual equipment and materials
- Outstanding communication skills in written and spoken English
- Bachelor's of Nursing
- Master's degree in nursing education or related healthcare field
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certification
