Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient care to children with serious pediatric diseases, physical limitations, and chronic conditions in an outpatient clinic setting. Independently apply the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient understanding of disease management and self-care. Oversee Licensed Vocational Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel while collaborating across Specialty Care Clinics to ensure continuity of care from pre-admission through post-discharge. Provide tailored education to patients and caregivers, utilizing interpretation services as needed, and participate in team conferences to coordinate treatment plans. Maintain current knowledge of clinical guidelines and regulations to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum two years of nursing experience
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Meet CCS paneled provider requirements within 18 months of hire
- In-depth knowledge and clinical expertise in specific serious pediatric diseases, physical limitations and chronic health conditions
- Substantial knowledge of education principles for all ages
- Read, speak and communicate effectively in English
- Write legibly
- Use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, Excel, LLEAP (Loma Linda Electronic Access Portal), Word
- Troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
- Perform technical patient care activities
- Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position
- Relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others to facilitate patient education effectively

Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of diseases treated in over eighteen Specialty Care Clinics licensed under Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH) and approved by California Children's Services (CCS)
- Read, speak and communicate effectively in Spanish
- Utilize interpretation services (including sign-language) by accessing interpreter services, language line and in-house video interpretation as needed
