Job Summary
Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills, while performing comprehensive patient assessments via phone or in person. Independently execute routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and complex specialty procedures such as conscious sedation and chemotherapy administration. Manage urgent medical situations in accordance with organizational protocols and serve as a resource for physicians on daily problem-solving and decision-making. Initiate and coordinate patient education to ensure patients understand materials and demonstrate return demonstration, while maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR certification
- Current experience within past five years or new nursing graduate within past two years
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred (may be required for some roles within Oncology)
- 1-2 years' experience in ambulatory or acute care
- Must be able to travel between both Glenview and Gurnee clinics
- Must be available for Monday through Friday schedule
- Must be able to perform phone triage
- Must be able to handle prior authorizations
- Must be able to handle medication refills
- Must be able to perform injection teaching
- Must be able to perform patient assessments via phone or in person
- Must be able to implement nursing interventions
- Must be able to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving patient care issues
- Must be able to initiate & organize patient education
- Must be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Must be able to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
- Must be able to report deficiencies to supervisor immediately
- Must be able to assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment
- Must be able to provide pre-attending care for patients
- Must be able to perform a comprehensive assessment of the chief complaint and patient needs utilizing the nursing process
- Must be able to seek solutions and offer opinions to physicians and other health care providers
- Must be able to document all nursing assessments in the patient's medical record
- Must be able to ensure that all documentation is clear, complete and legible
- Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Must be able to understand and uphold the protocols and procedures for release of patient/medical information
- Must be able to perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy

- Must be able to provide teaching to staff on both a formal and informal basis
- Must be able to participate in community outreach education, patient support groups or specialty-related educational programs offered to hospital and community nurses, as requested
- Must be able to complete an authorization and disclosure form for background check
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred (may be required for some roles within Oncology)
