Job Summary
Provide health information, crisis intervention, and referrals via telephone and one-on-one contact in office and community settings. Deliver group educational programs, interview and examine clients for sexually transmitted infections, blood-borne pathogens, and pregnancy, and perform appropriate laboratory procedures. Treat or refer clients based on findings, locate and notify contacts regarding positive cases of sexually transmitted infections and HIV, and distribute condoms, needles, and supplies through an outreach van. Requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Basic Life Support Certificate, and registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan. Offers part-time status with 24 eight-hour shifts per six weeks in Saskatoon.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Ability to work and communicate in a cross cultural setting
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Uses independent judgment based on Public Health principles
- Knowledge of analyzing, reporting of data and statistics
- Ability to establish workload priorities
- Knowledge in health promotion and prevention strategies
- Travel Required: Yes
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year Public Health Nursing experience is an asset
- Previous experience working w/i community setting w/ Indigenous clients an asset
