Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a Skilled Nursing Facility, assisting residents with bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility transfers. Monitor vital signs, document care activities, and report changes in condition to nursing staff. Assist with medical procedures like wound care and infection control protocols while engaging residents in social and therapeutic activities. Maintain a safe environment through fall prevention and emergency response readiness. Work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays, lifting up to 50 pounds, and adhere to facility policies and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Completing a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles and practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a healthcare team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients safely
- Excellent observation and attention to detail
- Ability to handle stressful situations and adapt to changing priorities
- Willingness to work in a Skilled Nursing Facility environment, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to read, speak, and understandably write the English language
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, residents, personnel, and support agencies
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
