Job Summary
Deliver basic nursing care to patients by responding promptly to call lights, monitoring conditions, and adapting delivery to individual needs. Assist with activities of daily living including nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, and toileting while performing vital signs, bathing, skin care, and specimen collection. Maintain clean and orderly patient and service rooms, prepare equipment for diagnostic procedures, and complete patient rounds to monitor safety. Accept care assignments across units as required and respond to fluctuating workloads by assisting other staff members. Complete intake and output records, estimate food and fluid consumption, and utilize proper body mechanics during patient transfers. Comply with the Falls Prevention Program and participate in educational programs to maintain competence.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- first aid training
- Ability to read and write at an elementary school level
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity
- Basic analytical skills in order to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret, & report outcomes to the nurse or document on the medical record
- Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
