Job Summary
Conduct instructional and evaluation activities for the Nurse Aide I course in the clinical lab and clinical areas, adhering to state Division of Health Service Regulation policies. Participate in curriculum planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation while implementing teaching methodologies that align with student learning outcomes. Monitor and evaluate student performance to provide timely feedback and make recommendations for quality improvement. Attend college functions such as new student orientation, graduation, and departmental meetings as appropriate. Maintain professional competence and meet assigned system and college requirements. Ride the bus with students to and from clinical sites. Requires an active RN license, two years of clinical experience, and current AHA BLS instructor certification.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered RN license in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- 2 years (4000 hours) of experience as an RN in the United States
- Completion of a course in teaching adults OR experience in teaching adults OR experience in supervising nurse aides
- Current AHA BLS provider and instructor certificates
- Approval as a nurse aide I faculty with the applicable state Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR)
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to handle and lift patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work with exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment
- Ability to work in a safe manner
- Must ride the bus with students to and from clinical sites
