Job Summary
PHN role applying public health science and nursing theory to promote and preserve population health across individuals, families, groups, and communities. Responsibilities include preventing injuries and diseases (e.g., immunization), addressing environmental issues, promoting reproductive/sexual health, and supporting perinatal families. Emphasizes equity, community engagement, collaboration with teams, and strong communication. Requires RN license in Manitoba, Baccalaureate nursing degree, relevant public health experience, and ability to work in diverse settings; duties may occur in multiple community locations and/or sites within WRHA. Scheduling includes days, evenings, weekends with standby as required; in-person work arrangement. Prospective candidates should demonstrate leadership, independent work capability, and competency in teaching and counseling, with proficiency in English and computer applications.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Nursing degree is required
- Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration (CRNM) required
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license required
- CPR training requirements per employer policy
- Possession of additional certifications preferred (e.g., Public Health Agency of Canada Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program, CCHN, lactation consultant programs, ISTM Travel Health)
- Experience in public health, primary care, population health, or community development preferred
- Ability to work independently and in teams; strong communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with diverse populations
- Immunization, phlebotomy, and physical assessment competencies
- Immunization and vaccination duties will be performed
