Job Summary
Numerical Control Engineer 3 responsible for developing advanced NC programs for milling machines and lathes in Gulfstream’s aerospace manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include analyzing engineering drawings and 3D models, defining machine selection, material cut sizes, and machining sequences, developing cutter motion logic, spindle speeds, and feed rates, verifying cutter paths with Vericut, and producing operator setup sheets and 2D CATIA tool drawings. The role involves collaboration with planners, tool designers, engineering teams, and customers, with potential to lead tasks and mentor junior NC Engineers. Required experience includes a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), 4+ years in machining-related roles, 2+ years as a Numerical Control Engineer, proficiency in CATIA, strong blueprint interpretation, and familiarity with CAM software (CATIA NC Mill; Mastercam preferred). The position is full-time, located in Savannah, GA, with up to 25% travel; visa sponsorship is not provided unless already sponsored. This role emphasizes machining methods, tool design, and Vericut validation within precision aerospace manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years in machining, planning, tool design, or related manufacturing roles
- At least 2 years of experience as a Numerical Control Engineer
- CATIA modeling, drafting, and CATIA NC Mill proficiency
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
- Knowledge of machining methods, drafting standards, technical writing, and modern manufacturing practices
- Excellent communication skills
- CATIA or Mastercam programming experience preferred
