Job Summary
This position involves expert-level advisory work related to nuclear weapons science for the Department of Energy's Office of Classification, including leading working groups and developing policy documents according to regulations. The role requires a thorough understanding of nuclear weapon design, materials science research, and classification guidance. Candidates should have at least a Master's degree and extensive field experience in nuclear weapons, along with strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a United States citizen
- Current DoD Top Secret security clearance or DOE Q security clearance
- Advanced degree in nuclear engineering or a physical science
- Hands-on nuclear weapon science experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years' total field experience in the subject area of nuclear weapons
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand written English at or above academic grade 15
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of computer code development to support the nuclear weapon complex
- Experience with XML computer language
- Expertise in Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF)
- Experience teaching and developing testing and educational materials for subjects such as IND or ICF
