Job Summary
Nuclear Structural Engineer (Engineer Structural 3) provides technical support as the structural SME for nuclear-projects, performing requirements reviews, developing BOMs, maintaining 3D models, and addressing NCRs. Responsibilities include analyzing structural specs for metals, non-metals, or composites; evaluating damage tolerance, durability, producibility, safety, and design allowances; handling dynamics and loads, stability, fatigue, and thermal analyses; and communicating through 3D modeling. Uses CATIA, IDEAS, Siemens PLM NX, ProEngineer, and related analytical tools to support design, fabrication, and execution. Requires 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's, 3 years with a Master's, 0 years with a PhD/JD, or a High School Diploma with 9 years of relevant experience. Travel to supplier sites is required. Salary range: $87,305 - $106,013 per year. This role resides within HII Mission Technologies' Global Security (GS) group and is contingent upon contract award. The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication, leadership, and collaboration skills; familiarity with nuclear quality standards and document control is a plus; a PE license or progress toward licensure is bonus. Required Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- Candidate must have nuclear industry and manufacturing experience
- Candidate must have experience with commercial nuclear structural components
- Candidate must have the ability to travel as needed to the supplier site
- Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Candidate must have leadership and collaboration skills
- Candidate must possess effective problem-solving skills and sound decision-making capabilities
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure (bonus)
- Experience with Tekla software (bonus)
