Job Summary
TerraPower seeks a Nuclear Security Systems Resident Engineer to provide in-person oversight and coordination for Natrium security system design and integration, coordinating with TerraPower and a security vendor (based in Carrollton, TX). The role requires frequent travel to Bellevue, WA and vendor locations, leadership of cross-functional design activities, and ensuring alignment of cyber/physical security with project execution. Key duties include vendor oversight of security design scope, facilitating communication among TerraPower and partner stakeholders, supporting project management and scheduling, and ensuring compliance with security control implementation, along with reviewing design work documents and providing weekly progress updates. The ideal candidate has extensive nuclear security design/PM experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a high-trust environment, with readiness to travel and operate in a nuclear quality environment and ANSI/ANS 3.1 contexts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years of design/project management experience on large utility-grade projects in the nuclear industry
- Minimum of 5 years of proven leadership experience
- Physical or Cyber Security design development, I&C security maintenance or integrator experience
- Familiarity with Nuclear Cyber and Physical Security related industrial codes, standards and regulations (e.g., 10 CFR 73.54, 10 CFR 73.55, NEI guidance)
- Experience with configuring and managing SIEM
- Experience with database structures for installing and integrating security systems
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and provide timely recommendations
- High degree of trustworthiness and integrity; ability to communicate complex, multi-disciplinary engineering issues clearly
- Experience as a design engineer in a nuclear quality (10 CFR 50, Appendix B) environment
- Ability to travel frequently to vendor locations outside Idaho and occasionally to Bellevue, WA
- Familiarity with defensive architecture and nuclear security systems requirements design
- Broad-based technical and engineering skills for designing, installing, or maintaining nuclear security systems
- Exposure to ANSI/ANS 3.1 qualification processes
