Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist I performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under physician supervision, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals intravenously or orally, operates and calibrates nuclear medicine imaging equipment (gamma cameras and PET scanners), and ensures radiation safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include following protocols to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, performing QC checks, documenting procedures and radiopharmaceutical usage in the EMR, identifying contraindications and ensuring patient safety, communicating with radiologists and cardiologists, and collaborating with vendors to update scanning protocols. Requires knowledge of NRC/state/federal regulations, ability to recognize abnormal results and technical errors, and strong patient-care and documentation skills. Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist and NM/ARRT or NMTCB/ARDMS certification as applicable, plus Basic Life Support.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience performing nuclear medicine procedures in a clinical or hospital setting required
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in an acute care hospital setting preferred
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required
  • (N) ARDMS or ARRT - Nuclear Med Tech required or NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
