Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary
Prepare patients for nuclear medicine examinations by positioning them, executing procedures, and assisting radiologists with patient care. Review medical records to verify orders and patient identity before each exam. Inspect images for quality and monitor them for proper identification prior to radiologist interpretation. Perform quality control procedures on equipment, conduct daily area surveys for contamination, and document results. Maintain clinical room supplies and complete exam data entry in EPIC and Synapse systems. Cross-train in other specialty areas as workload demands and assist in training new technologists. Report equipment malfunctions immediately to supervisors and adhere to radiation dosimeter policies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) (N) or the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Must hold a current Florida Nuclear Medicine License from the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance
- BLS/CPR certification
- Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Program for Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent
- One year of clinical NM experience and/or can independently perform routine NM procedures, cardiac procedures & assist with specialized diagnostic & therapeutic procedures
- Must be able to adjust to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times
- Must adhere to MSMC established Personnel Radiation Dosimeter Policy as observed by supervisor and/or reported/documented by the RSO
- Must demonstrate knowledge and proper use of computer programs, particularly the EPIC and Synapse application systems
Desired Qualifications
- Cross trains in other specialty areas/departments/facilities when work load demands, to enhance skills outside assigned specialty clinical area
