Job Summary
Perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine exams on patients using specialized equipment while verifying identities, preparing patients, and operating imaging systems to produce high-quality images. Review images for quality and accuracy, complete studies within timeframes, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state licensing and Joint Commission standards. Educate and support patients, ensure comfort, and address concerns while adhering to radiation safety standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements for radiopharmaceuticals. Assist with training students and team members as needed. Work primarily Monday–Friday with flexible PRN scheduling across Alta View, Riverton, LDS, or Intermountain Medical Center locations, including rotating weeknight and weekend calls.
Required Qualifications
- Current license in state of practice
- Clinical board certification, i.e., American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
- IV certification for healthcare providers
- Rotating weeknight call: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotating weekend call: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
- Rotating holiday coverage
- Coverage primarily Monday–Friday
- Primary Location: Alta View Hospital
- Additional Opportunities: May pick up shifts at Riverton Hospital, LDS Hospital, or Intermountain Medical Center
- Opportunity to pick up additional shifts across multiple facilities
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Desired Qualifications
- One year of clinical Nuclear Medicine experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
