Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary

Independently operate Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT scanner equipment to perform complex imaging exams, including static, dynamic, and SPECT studies using calibrated radio tracers. Receive patients, explain procedures, position them, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and contrast material intravenously under radiologist supervision. Set up sterile suites, ensure required supplies are available, and perform related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS and archiving data. Maintain patient records in the Radiology VistA Package and CPRS systems while contributing to patient assessments with independent judgment. Comply with all VALBHS policies and report unusual incidents or accidents immediately. Full-time weekday coverage from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, including holidays, with an hourly rate of $72.00 plus $5.09/hr for Health & Wellness.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance
  • US Citizenship
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current work experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT
  • Current, valid ARRT Nuclear Medicine certification ARRT (N)
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification
  • Successful completion of a NMTCB-recognized nuclear medicine technology program OR completion of a nuclear medicine technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) or other accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, culminating in a certificate, associate, baccalaureate, or master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience starting Intravenous (IV) lines, administering radiopharmaceutical injections, and administering contrast injections
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Strong communication skills
  • English language fluency
  • Weekday Coverage (including holidays)
  • Day: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
