Job Summary
Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders, calculating and verifying doses accurately while documenting administration precisely. Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures including cardiac perfusion studies, bone scans, and hepatobiliary examinations, positioning patients correctly and acquiring images that meet diagnostic standards. Operate gamma cameras and SPECT systems, perform daily quality-control procedures on imaging equipment, process image data, and transmit completed studies through PACS for radiologist interpretation. Manage radiation safety by handling, storing, transporting, and disposing of radioactive materials in accordance with NRC or Agreement State rules, monitoring dosimetry, and responding to contamination events. Coordinate patient scheduling and preparation, confirming fasting and medication holds, screening for pregnancy, and providing radiation precaution instructions. This 90-day contract engagement in Nampa, Idaho, supports a department performing diagnostic imaging across cardiac, oncologic, skeletal, and general nuclear applications.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through NMTCB or ARRT (N)
- Graduation from an accredited nuclear medicine technology program
- Any credential required for practice in Idaho
- Prior clinical experience performing nuclear medicine studies in a hospital or imaging center setting
- Current BLS certification
- Accurate dose calculation and radiopharmaceutical handling practice
- Working knowledge of gamma camera and SPECT operation and quality control
- Competency with PACS
- Strong patient communication skills
- Reliable onsite availability for the full assignment
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the engagement
Desired Qualifications
- Dual credentialing in nuclear medicine and computed tomography
- PET/CT experience
- Familiarity with cardiac stress testing protocols
- Exercise or pharmacologic stress support
- Experience with therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures
- Prior responsibility for radiation safety recordkeeping
- Previous contract or travel technologist experience
- Willingness to participate in call coverage or extended-hours scheduling
- Experience coordinating with cardiology for stress testing
- Comfort placing intravenous access independently
- Familiarity with the specific regulatory framework applicable in Idaho
