Job Summary
Prepare, assay, and administer radiopharmaceuticals while verifying dose calculations and confirming patient identity. Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations including cardiac perfusion imaging, bone scans, and renal studies, positioning patients correctly and acquiring diagnostic-quality images. Operate and maintain gamma camera and SPECT equipment, completing daily quality-control testing, processing data, and routing studies through PACS. Ensure full compliance with radiation safety and regulatory requirements covering receipt, storage, transport, and disposal of radioactive materials. Coordinate scheduling and patient preparation across the daily study list, verifying fasting and medication holds, and provide clear post-administration radiation precaution guidance. Work onsite in Hartford, Connecticut, for a 90-day contract engagement at $53.69 to $55.69 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through NMTCB or ARRT (N)
- Graduation from an accredited program
- Connecticut credential required for practice
- Prior clinical nuclear medicine experience in a hospital or imaging center
- Current BLS certification
- Accurate dose preparation and handling
- Competency with gamma camera and SPECT operation and quality control
- Familiarity with PACS and radiology information systems
- Clear, reassuring communication with patients undergoing unfamiliar procedures
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- PET/CT experience
- Dual nuclear medicine and CT credentialing
- Experience supporting cardiac stress testing, including pharmacologic stress protocols
- Exposure to therapeutic nuclear medicine
- Prior involvement in radiation safety compliance and recordkeeping
- Previous contract or travel technologist experience
- Independent intravenous access skills
- Willingness to participate in call coverage or extended-hours scheduling
- Experience coordinating cardiac stress testing with the cardiology service
- Familiarity with Connecticut's regulatory requirements for radioactive materials
- Experience precepting students
