Job Summary
Monitor intravenous lines, oxygen supplies, and drains while providing comfort and care before, during, and after procedures. Verify patient identification, pregnancy status, and informed consent; obtain pertinent history and make internal notes in PACS. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals through various routes under authorized user direction, ensuring proper pre-procedural preparation including fasting and bowel cleansing. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, perform quality control on imaging systems, and accurately input patient data into the hospital computer system. Transport patients as needed and instruct nursing units. Report issues to the supervisor to improve department efficiency. Requires NYS license, BLS certification, and accredited nuclear medicine technology program completion. Per diem schedule at Mercy Hospital, a top-ranked Long Island facility.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate
- Must be a graduate of an accredited two-year program in nuclear medicine technology
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist or eligible
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligible
- Technologist must be certified technologist or registered technologist within six months of employment or pass the first available exam if tests are not given in the first six months of employment by the testing Board
- NYS/DOH License required
- BLS required- American Heart Association accepted
