Job Summary
Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, calculate doses, and administer diagnostic or therapeutic studies under physician direction. Calibrate imaging equipment, operate scanners and scintillation cameras, and measure radioactivity using Geiger counters and scalers. Select appropriate filters and slice selection to produce high-quality images, then complete exams in PACS and EMR. Maintain records of isotope use, storage, and patient doses to ensure regulatory compliance. Provide patient education, perform venipuncture, and follow ALARA principles for radiation safety.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of one-year clinic experience in direct patient care setting
- Requires proficiency at a technical level not requiring constant supervision in nuclear medicine
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to use a computer terminal
- Must be able to use a fax machine
- Must be able to use a copy machine
- BLS must be obtained during orientation period
