Job Summary
Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. Administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and verify orders in medical charts, prescriptions, and patient identification. Recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, ensure appropriate patient care, and adhere to strict radiation safety and compliance education requirements. Communicate effectively with physicians, ancillary areas, and internal staff while resolving customer problems independently or involving supervisors as necessary. Maintain annual competency prior to evaluation dates and demonstrate adherence to department-specific customer service standards and the code of ethics.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year or more as a Nuclear Med Technologist in a full service Radiology/Nuclear Medicine Department
- Computer skills for operating within the RIS/HIS/PACS
- Solid medical terminology knowledge
- Ability to successfully complete job related communication & arithmetic calculations
- Radiation Safety/Safety Program related courses
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine issued by State of California (CNMT)
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine/Radiological Technology issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT-NM) and/or certification by Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Current CPR
- Demonstrates adherence to the Standards of Conduct Requirements
- Completes and turns in the SOC acknowledgement card
- Fulfills compliance education requirements as directed by the Compliance department or department management
- Demonstrates competency in department-specific Customer Service Standards
- Complies with hospital/departmental policy and procedures
- Adheres to the code of ethics and conduct of The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Nuclear Medicine
- Understands and adheres to procedure orders requirements to include: verifying orders in the medical chart, prescriptions, and verifying patient's identification
- Meets annual competency requirement prior to evaluation date
- Communicates effectively with physicians, ancillary areas, and internal staff
- Demonstrates the capacity to evaluate, coordinate, and execute responsibilities under pressure situations
- Has the initiative to resolve customer problems by self, and involves supervisors as necessary
